2010 Volvo XC60 Half-Year

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 2010 XC60 Half-Year.

Body SUV

The 2010 Volvo XC60 is a midsize SUV built on Volvo’s then‑current platform and powered by a drivetrain that requires 7.8 qt of engine oil, with viscosity options ranging from 0W‑30 and 0W‑40 to 5W‑30 meeting API standards. Its service specifications are straightforward, but the model’s ownership record shows a modest 56 total complaints, most of which fall into an “unknown or other” category, and it was subject to seven recalls during its production run. Positioned in the early part of the XC60’s lifecycle, this half‑year iteration reflects Volvo’s generally solid reliability reputation while indicating a few isolated issues that researchers should note when evaluating long‑term durability.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

Owner complaints about the 2010 Volvo XC60 Half-Year top in one area — the unknown or other, 7 of 56 reports (12%), well ahead of the next concern. None of this vehicle's 7 recall campaigns target the unknown or other, so those reports read as owner-reported wear-and-tear rather than an acknowledged defect. 3 of the reports describe a crash and 1 a fire — a small share of the total, but worth weighing against the unknown or other pattern above. These are tallies of what owners actually reported to the federal government, not an editorial score — and higher-selling models naturally rack up more reports.
