What the terms mean

Recall — a manufacturer campaign, filed with NHTSA, to fix a safety defect at no cost — identified by an NHTSA campaign number such as 19V352.

TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) — the factory's documented fix for a known issue — guidance for technicians, not a safety recall.

Complaint — an owner-reported problem in NHTSA's public database; the volume and pattern hint at a model's reliability.

ODI investigation — NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation examining a possible defect, which can escalate into a recall.
