1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1984 Cutlass Supreme.

The 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme is the 1984 edition of Oldsmobile's long-running Cutlass Supreme line, with routine maintenance calling for 4 quarts of engine oil in 20W-20, 20W-40, or 20W-50 viscosities. Owner-reported reliability records show 22 total complaints for this model year, with Engine & Engine Cooling standing out as the top complaint area and two recalls filed. Because the broader model complaint history covers only 1990 through 1996—peaking at 252 complaints in 1994 and reaching a low of 90 in 1995—the 1984 model falls outside that tracked window, so its complaint volume cannot be directly compared to those later years.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

The federal record supplied covers only model years 1990 through 1996, with complaint counts ranging from 90 (1995) to 252 (1994) and recall counts varying between 1 and 8 per year. No data are listed for the 1984 model year, so there is no basis to compare its complaint or recall frequency to the surrounding years in this dataset. Consequently, the trend across the generation cannot be ascertained for 1984, and the target year’s position in any arc of improvement or deterioration remains unspecified. Without comparative figures for 1984, any assertion about its relative reliability would be speculative. Therefore, based solely on the information provided, there is insufficient evidence to determine whether the 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme is a good year to purchase.
