Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1984 Capri.
The 1984 Mercury Capri is a compact sedan built on a front‑wheel‑drive platform that features a 4.0‑liter engine requiring 4.0 qt of oil with acceptable viscosities of 5W‑30, 10W‑30, or 10W‑40. Its modest powertrain and straightforward architecture made it a practical choice for the era, yet the model’s reliability record has fluctuated over time. In the 1991‑1994 window, the Capri’s complaint count peaked at 40 cases in 1991 and dropped to a low of 3 in 1994, illustrating a notable improvement in durability for later years.
