Body BUS

The 2015 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 is a full-size bus built on Mercedes-Benz's proven commercial van platform, powered by a turbodiesel engine that requires 12.1 quarts of oil with manufacturer-approved viscosities ranging from 0W-30 to 0W-40 depending on operating conditions. This model year arrived with 23 owner complaints filed—notably fewer than its 2014 predecessor, which holds the highest complaint count in the model's history at 38, though still elevated compared to the model's low point of just 1 complaint in 2007—with steering issues representing the most frequent concern. With 14 safety recalls issued for this model year, the 2015 Sprinter 2500 reflects a period of moderate reliability concerns within the 2007-2025 complaint spectrum, suggesting prospective buyers should factor in the vehicle's service record and any completed recall work when evaluating long-term ownership costs.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

Owner complaints about the 2015 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 top in one area — the steering, 3 of 23 reports (13%), well ahead of the next concern. None of this vehicle's 11 recall campaigns target the steering, so those reports read as owner-reported wear-and-tear rather than an acknowledged defect. 1 of the reports describe a crash and 0 a fire — a small share of the total, but worth weighing against the steering pattern above. These are tallies of what owners actually reported to the federal government, not an editorial score — and higher-selling models naturally rack up more reports.
