Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1968 Impala.
The 1968 Chevrolet Impala is a model whose later‑generation complaint records span 1991‑2020, reaching a peak of 1,071 complaints in 2004 and a trough of a single complaint in 1997. Those figures illustrate the considerable variation in reported problems that the nameplate experienced during that period. Because the 1968 version precedes the periods of highest and lowest complaint volume, it serves as an early benchmark for reliability trends. Researchers can therefore use this early model year to contextualize the evolution of defect reporting within the Impala line.

THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A SEPARATED MOTOR MOUNT MAY ALLOW THE ENGINE TO LIFT, WHICH MAY AFFECT THE THROTTLE LINKAGE, MOMENTARILY INCREASING THROTTLE, POSSIBLY TO FULL THROTTLE. Remedy: INSPECT ENGINE MOUNTS AND INSTALL RESTRAINTS WHICH WILL LIMIT ENGINE LIFT AND ELIMINATE POSSIBLE SECONDARY EFFECTS TO THE THROTTLE LINKAGE DUE TO ENGINE MOUNT SEPARATION.
