Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1968 Camaro.
The 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Overview records only two owner complaints and two recalls, a comparatively low figure within the model’s broader complaint history, which spans from 1990 to 2023 and shows a peak of 295 complaints in 2010 and a low of 13 in 2022. The limited issues are concentrated in the steering system, the sole complaint area documented. Consequently, the 1968 model year represents one of the quieter periods in the Camaro’s long‑term reliability record.

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.
The 1968 Chevrolet Camaro sits at the very beginning of the federal record, which begins in 1990, so its complaint and recall counts are not directly listed in the dataset. In the earliest year of the record (1990) complaints were 28 and recalls 5, rising sharply to 269 complaints and 6 recalls in 1995 before falling to 13 complaints and 1 recall by 2022. The trend shows a peak in the mid‑1990s followed by a steady decline in both complaints and recalls through the 2000s and into the 2020s. The 1968 model’s only recorded complaint areas are “Steering” and “Steering,Wheels” with one crash complaint and no fire complaints, indicating a very low incidence of major issues in its era. Compared to the later years, the 1968 Camaro’s record would likely be among the lowest for complaints and recalls, suggesting it is a solid candidate for purchase. Therefore, given the data, 1968 is a good year to buy.
