1977 Buick Regal

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1977 Regal.

The 1977 Buick Regal represents the early incarnation of Buick’s mid‑size offering, built on the platform that defined the brand’s rear‑wheel‑drive sedans of the era. While specific power‑train details for this year are not enumerated in the source data, the model is notable for its place within a lineage that would later exhibit a wide range of consumer feedback; the complaint record for Regals from 1990 to 2020 shows a peak of 325 complaints in 1998 and a low of just one in 2008, indicating that the 1977 version predates the period of documented reliability trends and therefore is not directly reflected in those statistics. Consequently, researchers should treat the 1977 Regal as a baseline reference point, understanding that its documented reliability must be inferred from the broader historical pattern rather than from explicit complaint counts for that year.
