Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 2005 325I.
The 2005 BMW 325I rides on the E46 platform with a five-speed automatic (S5) transmission and requires 6.9 quarts of 15W-40, 10W-40, or 10W-30 API SJ oil for routine service. EPA estimates rate the vehicle at 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, figures that place it within the expected range for its segment. Within the model’s documented complaint history spanning 1990 to 2012—a range that peaks at 155 complaints for the 2001 model year and troughs at a single complaint for 2000—the 2005 edition occupies a position between those extremes in the reliability record.
