P2153 — Fuel Injector Group C Supply Voltage Circuit Low

P2153 means the engine computer has detected that the supply voltage for fuel injector group C is lower than expected. This usually points to a short to ground, high resistance, open circuit, or failed injector in that group, not the computer itself. The code can cause misfires, rough running, and increased emissions.

Symptoms

What causes it — most likely first

1. Short to ground in the group C injector supply circuit

Wiring can chafe, melt, or contact metal and pull the injector supply voltage low, causing the PCM to set the code.

2. Faulty fuel injector in group C

An injector coil with an internal short or low resistance can draw excessive current and make the supply circuit voltage drop.

3. Open or high-resistance power feed/ground for the group

Corroded, loose, or damaged connectors increase resistance or break the circuit, lowering voltage at the injectors.

4. Poor or corroded electrical connections

Terminal spread, corrosion, or moisture at the injector or PCM connector can create voltage loss across the joint.

5. PCM injector driver failure

Rarely, the internal injector driver transistor in the PCM fails and cannot maintain proper voltage; diagnose only after wiring and injectors are ruled out.

How it's diagnosed

  1. Confirm the code and record freeze-frame data; note if other injector group codes are present.
  2. Visually inspect the group C injector harness and connectors for chafing, melting, corrosion, or terminal damage.
  3. Measure resistance of each group C injector and compare to specification; swap injectors only as a test if safe.
  4. With the ignition on, check supply voltage at the group C injector connector and test for shorts to ground or opens between the PCM and injectors.
  5. If wiring and injectors test normal, monitor or scope the PCM injector driver output; suspect the PCM only if all external causes are eliminated.
