P0530 indicates the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a malfunction in the circuit or signal from the air conditioning refrigerant pressure sensor. This sensor monitors high-side refrigerant pressure and provides data used to control A/C clutch engagement and cooling fan operation. When the signal falls outside the expected range or an open/short is detected, the code sets and the A/C system may be disabled.

  3. Check for proper reference voltage (typically 5V) and ground at the sensor connector with the key on engine off
  4. Test the sensor output voltage with a multimeter while monitoring actual system pressure with manifold gauges; compare against specifications
  5. Perform a wiggle test on the wiring harness while monitoring live data to check for intermittent opens or shorts
