What causes it — most likely first

1. Corroded, loose, or damaged power distribution connector or wiring

High resistance or intermittent contact at the module's power/ground connector or in the harness between the fuse block and module is the most frequent cause.

2. Blown, loose, or intermittent fuse or fusible link for one power circuit

A single fuse supplying only one of the two feeds can open or develop high resistance, breaking the correlation.

3. Open circuit or high resistance in one power feed wire

4. Faulty ignition switch or relay contacts supplying one circuit

Worn switch contacts or a sticking relay can drop one feed while the other remains active.

5. Internal module power supply circuit failure

6. PCM/ECM software calibration mismatch

  5. Perform voltage-drop tests on each power feed and the ground path under load
