U0625 — Lost Communication Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Bank 1

U0625 means the engine control module has stopped receiving valid data from the bank 1 fuel rail pressure sensor. This is a network/communication fault, not a performance-range fault, so the PCM sees the sensor as missing or unresponsive rather than merely reading out of range.

What causes it — most likely first

1. Failed fuel rail pressure sensor

The sensor can fail internally so it no longer communicates on the data line, even though power and ground are present. This is the single most common cause of a lost-communication U-code for this sensor.

2. Wiring or connector fault

Open, shorted, pinched, or corroded wires between the sensor and the PCM interrupt the communication signal. Connector pin damage, moisture intrusion, or backed-out terminals are common.

3. Power or ground loss to the sensor

If the sensor loses its reference voltage, ground, or battery feed, it cannot respond to the PCM. A blown fuse, bad splice, or poor ground connection can produce this code.

4. Signal / communication line interference

A short to another circuit or excessive resistance on the sensor's dedicated signal or data line can prevent valid messages from reaching the PCM.

5. PCM internal fault

PCM failure is possible but uncommon for a single lost-communication code. It should be considered only after the sensor, wiring, power, ground, and network integrity have been verified.

How it's diagnosed

  1. Inspect the fuel rail pressure sensor connector and harness for corrosion, pin damage, chafing, and secure retention; repair any visible damage.
  2. Check for related DTCs and freeze-frame data; address any power, ground, or bus communication codes first.
  3. Using a wiring diagram, verify sensor power (reference voltage), ground, and signal/data line continuity back to the PCM, checking for opens, shorts, and high resistance.
  4. Compare the sensor's output or data-line behavior with a known-good waveform or scan-tool parameter; replace the sensor if it does not communicate while power and ground are confirmed good.
  5. If the sensor and all wiring are proven good, perform PCM software updates per manufacturer service information and, only if necessary, evaluate the PCM.

Do I need to replace the PCM for U0625?

Is it safe to drive with U0625?
