This circuit operates a heater—often located in the fuel filter housing or supply line—to prevent diesel fuel from gelling in cold temperatures. A low-voltage condition is most often caused by a short to ground, an internally shorted heater, or excessive resistance in the control wiring.

4. Failed fuel supply heater relay (if equipped)

An internally shorted or stuck relay can create an abnormal voltage drop or incorrect control-side voltage that the PCM interprets as a circuit-low condition.
