P2410 indicates the powertrain control module has detected a lower-than-expected voltage signal from the fuel cap sensor or switch circuit. This sensor informs the EVAP system whether the fuel cap is present and properly tightened. A 'low' reading usually means the circuit is shorted to ground, the sensor is failing, or the cap is not making proper contact.

  2. Examine the fuel cap sensor, connector, and harness for corrosion, bent pins, chafing, or shorts to ground near the filler neck.
  3. Use a multimeter or scan tool to compare the sensor signal voltage/resistance against manufacturer specifications with the cap on, off, and tight.
  4. Perform a visual inspection of the filler neck and cap threads for damage that could prevent proper sensor engagement.
  5. If all hardware tests normal but the low signal persists, verify PCM input integrity; consider PCM replacement only as a last resort.
